The bible speaks of how kind acts (feeding an enemy) is like heaping hot coals on his head (Romans 12:20, Proverbs 25:22). I like the sound of that...punishing enemies...unless it's referring to an ancient Egyptian ritual in which a guilty person would place a censer of hot coals on their head as a sign of repentance...oops.
The saving grace of Jesus is supposed to be extended to people that may not "deserve" it? My enemies? And I may have to partner with Jesus in helping my enemies find him? This makes kindness infinitely harder and at the same time infinitely more important. It may be one of the simplest, hardest, and most explosive things I do for someone else.
